I’m excited to hear from several children in today’s episode! Cultivating a family dream culture is so rewarding, so if you are inspired hearing from these young dreamers and you have children of your own, start by asking your kids about their dreams in the morning and see what happens. It really is amazing hearing how God is meeting our kids in the night and opening up those conversations with them!

I recently heard that there is no such thing as Junior Holy Spirit, which I had to think about this for a moment. If the same Spirit that filled Jesus and raised Him from the dead is the same Spirit that fills each of us who have been born again through Him – this would definitely include children! Furthermore, they probably have less religious baggage than most adults and find it easier to simply believe.

Most of us come to realize the process of growing in the knowledge of God involves a lot of un-learning of wrong ideas we’ve collected along the way. So the more I think about it, it seems that children are at a spiritual advantage pretty much all the way around and we should pay more attention to what they have to say!

What an honor to receive divine intel and heavenly assignments on behalf of others! If you ever have a disturbing prophetic dream you don’t understand, it helps to ask the question “how can I pray or stand against what was happening in the dream?” Intercessory dreams can be a type of warning or prophetic dream with an assignment attached, where God shows the dreamer something that is or may be about to happen, so that they can stand against it in the spirit realm.

I’m excited to share my interview with Darcy Frederick today. Her passionate belief is that God uses those who have been outcasted and calls them heavenly. Darcy has a unique calling into dark places to pull people out in Jesus’ name, the same way she was pulled out of a life of addiction, violence and suicide.

Kelly Madden is the author of the free Substack newsletter “Seeing the Keystone: Notes on Symbolism in the Bible.” Each day he posts a brief explanation of one symbol from one chapter of the Old Testament. Kelly is the Founder and Executive Director of the Boston Fellows program, a faith-and-work organization that equips young professionals to serve God and neighbor in the working world.

Many believe we are in the beginning of a third great awakening in America. It may be hard to imagine how this could be in these tumultuous times but consider that the first great awakening in America preceded the revolutionary war, and the second great awakening preceded the civil war.

While revival involves spiritual renewal mostly within the church, awakening is revival accompanied by reformation, where moral and spiritual values are restored to society on a broad scale. Through eyes of faith, we can be excited about the deep darkness covering the face of the earth as the perfect backdrop for God’s brilliant light to break forth!

Dreams are just one way God is inviting us to know Him and partner with what He is doing in the world. Many are having vivid dreams of revival having to do with this time in history, and this is just the beginning!

Welcome to season 3 of The Night Life podcast!

Who we are becoming in the process of interpreting our dreams is infinitely more important than just “getting the right answer.” One of history’s most famous dream interpreters, Joseph, famously expressed in the book of Genesis, “do not interpretations belong to God?” Through dreams, God is revealing Himself as the One who knows us more deeply than we know ourselves and wants to make Himself known to us, too!

Engaging with the night life isn’t just about getting intel but cultivating an abiding relationship with our God our Creator. Eternal life isn’t for some future time, as we may imagine, but available to all of us right now. In John 17 we see Jesus’ longest recorded prayer in Scripture. Here He prays to the Father for His disciples and all future believers, declaring: this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Dreams are just one type of special revelation from God to His creation. When we honor the dreams He gives us, we honor God Himself, showing that we are thankful for all the ways He is speaking to us, and that we want to hear and heed what He has to say. If we don’t make time to remember, record and interpret our dreams, the substance of this amazing gift will slip through the cracks of our busy lives where everything else in the world is clamoring for our attention – most of all, through the devices in our hands.

Once you start showing up consistently in a posture of faith and curiosity, you’ll be amazed at the abundance that has been there all along, waiting to be discovered! You’ll find God is constantly calling us into partnership with all He wants to do on this earth – in our lives and through our lives to touch others.

Recently I’ve been having a lot of military dreams, slightly different from standard warfare dreams in that they are much more detailed and strategic. I used to hate fighting dreams because I was usually being attacked, fighting for my life and would wake up exhausted. Over time, I started winning more, and today these are some of my favorite dreams because they are intriguing yet generally peaceful!

Consider that every earthly military mission, position, strategy, and weapon serves as a metaphor for spiritual battle. There are distinct branches of military service depending on the terrain, enemy and conflict. Think of the nature of various types of engagement such as hand to hand combat, air strikes, tunnel warfare, combat teams, special forces, covert or sniper operations and specific types of weapons most effective for the situation.

Remember that God chose each of us for the specific time and place in history we find ourselves in. We are perfectly positioned with everything we need through His Spirit to fulfill our divine purpose, for such a time as this, like Queen Esther. I think this is why war movies inspire me so much – and why military dreams are some of my favorites.

Dreams of Jesus are some of the most extraordinary and potentially life-changing. In today’s episode, we will hear several testimonies of Muslims encountering Jesus in dreams, leading to their salvation. We will hear several other dreams of Jesus as a strong, desirable man, a high school sweetheart, Shaquille O’Neal, the driver of a bus, captain of a ship and in divine form with huge hands at work on the earth.

Job 33:14-16 says that God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.

Dreams are one powerful way we connect to the Spirit of God and come to know Him more deeply. God loves to meet us in the privacy of our night life where we are quiet, at rest and most receptive to Him. Making time to remember, record and process our dreams unlocks treasures of revelation that are hidden for us to discover.

I’m convinced that we flounder unnecessarily if we are disconnected from the counsel God wants to release to us in the night when we are at rest, quiet and most receptive to Him. The keys of revelation we receive are power-packed to affect our actions and decisions during the day and today’s episode is about dreams that give us this kind of direction.

As we explore our dreams with the Holy Spirit, it is helpful to engage with radical curiosity as we’re asking the who – what – when – where – why and how questions. The memory is fascinating! Excitement builds as pictures and stories come into focus, including details such as the time of day, clothing, objects, colors, numbers or anything else that stands out, no matter how unusual.

On that basis we search further, considering what we thought, felt or knew in the dream, possible themes, contrasts or the tense of time it was in- past, present or future. Ultimately, we are searching for possible messages and how they can be applied to our lives. Who we’re becoming in the process of searching is just as important as what we walk away with. We are all learning to think more like God and understand the language of His Spirit.

CS Lewis said “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

Today, we will hear from many people who have had dreams of heaven. Some are recent and some many years past, but the details of these dreams are often remembered vividly for a lifetime. I have been extraordinarily touched hearing from others on this topic, not only regarding dreams but also visions and near-death experiences. For this episode we are sticking to dreams, but let me tell you it brings me such joy watching people come alive recounting supernatural encounters that touched their lives in meaningful and sometimes life-altering ways.

When you think of heaven, you may envision a scene brimming with stunning beauty, golden, bright light, illuminous colors, gold, pearls or precious stones, images of a bride or wedding, Jesus, angels, loved ones who have passed away, multitudes of people of different races and nations, feelings of overwhelming love, peace, joy, homecoming and being more alive than ever before.

These dreams offer profound encouragement in hard times, reminding us that life on earth is temporary – that we are just passing through. Sometimes these have the effect of drawing people into God’s kingdom for those who don’t yet know Him, like so many testimonies we hear of Muslims being saved through encountering Jesus in a dream. While in heaven, some people experience special revelation, an impartation, healing, calling or some other gift of God.

Calling dreams are a special way God reveals the plans and purposes He dreamed for us before we were even created. God spoke to the prophet Jeremiah: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Every aspect of God’s physical creation has a specific design and purpose and the same is true for every person: God envisioned everything about us before we were even conceived and is constantly inviting us to see ourselves as we truly are in His image.

While I’m so aware of God’s amazing grace in my life, empowering me to do what I otherwise couldn’t, I am comforted to remember that His work on earth is always done through imperfect people. His desire for each of us is a life flowing out of relationship with Him – the awe-inspiring result of our humanity infused with His divinity.

Above all, remember that we are God’s kids and more than anything He wants to love and enjoy us, and for us to love and enjoy Him.

What comes to mind when you hear the word apocalypse? Possibly images of utter destruction or a dystopian scene where no one is safe and evil and chaos have taken over the earth? I was intrigued to find the Greek definition and usage for the word apokalypsis means: laying bare, making naked, disclosure of truth, manifestation, appearance, revelation or coming.

Apocalyptic dreams are very common, showing us what is really there, or really coming, whether wonderful or terrifying or both. All of these dreams have a common theme: a place of refuge amidst great devastation. Those who chose to take shelter are saved and the rest are not.

While we all have important, God-ordained things to do on this earth, our modern lifestyle offers endless opportunities to squander our lives away. It takes effort to choose our pursuits wisely. We must constantly align ourselves with the truth that we are spiritual beings, created to live from and towards eternity in connection with our Creator. Whether through dreaming or awake, we all have eyes to see into the unseen realm if we will use them.

017 political dreams

There is almost nothing that affects our daily lives more than politics. I’ve had so many political dreams through the years and am always growing in my understanding of how to interpret them.

We live in a time where otherwise reasonable people have gone feral, attacking those with opposing viewpoints – sacrificing families and friendships on the altar of politics as if their very lives, not just their ideologies, were in danger. Sadly, most of what we call news today is actually propaganda, precisely designed to provoke fear and anger that prevent people from thinking clearly. The effects are widely seen.

As we look at so many infamous atrocities throughout human history, the obvious question is how such evil people and plans gained power to begin with. Albert Einstein famously said: “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” No one person is going to save the world, but let’s tune into what God may be showing us in the night life, so that we can be faithful to do our part.
