Whether your Christmas looks like palm trees wrapped in lights, as it does for my guest on the podcast today, or pine trees dusted in snow, which is my view here in the mountains… I pray for each of us to experience the warmth and wonder of Jesus in new and meaningful ways this season.

I connected with Sebastian Sohn from Los Angeles through his collaboration on the emerging dreams unwrapped podcast, which I’ll link in the show notes. Sebastian has taught game design as an adjunct and industry specialist at the LA Film School and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He focuses on using games to teach creative writing and coding and is currently developing a gamified curriculum to teach the basics of coding.

Sebastian is also a video game designer and I was thankful that he squeezed our interview into his busy week serving on the panel of judges for the independent game festival for the game developers conference - and as a bonus I got to learn all about his top picks for indie video games this year! In addition to teaching, designing, gaming and flowing in dream interpretation, he is also immersed in the world of crypto, DeFi and NFT. There are times we know when something isn’t working well in our life and what to do about it. In many cases, however, we only know there’s a problem and could use help identifying root causes that aren’t evident at all.

I’ve had 100s of significant diagnostic dreams through the years, most having to do with very practical aspects of my life that need healing, deliverance or recalibration. At first glance, these can seem confusing or annoying – our brains just processing stress or random information because they typically contain imagery from our waking lives. But these dreams are often spotlighting issues in or around our lives that need attention, or illuminating deeper places to help us see how we are really doing emotionally, relationally, spiritually or otherwise.

Have you ever had a dream where you are so tired you can’t open your eyes, can’t move, or are fighting and can barely throw a punch? Have you ever had a broken down vehicle dream? What about your phone or computer not working, a flood or fire in your house, church or workplace, being naked, chased or everything going wrong?

These dreams can serve as red flag warnings concerning yours or someone else’s physical, mental or emotional health, a relationship, job or other sphere of life. Once you discover the precious value of this type of divine intel, you’ll be inspired to mine gold of diagnostic dreams every time they show up in the night life!

041 prophetic evangelism

Dream interpretation is an amazing connection point for prophetic evangelism! God is so pleased with our simple act of faith of showing up and offering what we have to every situation He calls us to. It's not about performance, and yes there are others out there who know more, could share more eloquently, or have better answers to people’s questions. But God is asking US to show up and share His LOVE with others – it is risky and uncomfortable, but if we will lean into the adventure, God will excite us for who we will encounter and the supernatural creativity we will experience in the process of yielding to His Spirit.

Through the summer, I have had so much fun taking dream interpretation public with dream booths. While many others are doing this type of outreach, this is a brand new adventure for our group here in Colorado and it has been so amazing! We tell people we’re practicing dream interpretation and ask if they have any dreams they want to share. Many will stay and share a dream or two, which we then collaborate on interpreting and helping the dreamer discover what message God may be speaking concerning their waking life.

I’m so thankful for everyone who has ventured out with me, even if initially just observing. This outreach feels like such natural extension of this podcast, but really it’s a fishing hook for connection with people – helping them feel seen, heard and loved by us and ultimately God, the Dream Giver, who loves to connect with all of us in our sleep while we are at rest and most receptive to Him. Many dreams from the park have woven their way into podcast episodes, which of course is so meaningful!

You know that saying you find what you’re looking for? Well apparently I’m looking out for dreamers, because I connect with so many of them in the course of my daily life in the unlikeliest places! Today’s interview is with someone I see several times a week, Daniel Silva. Dressed in his security uniform, he looks like a boss so you can imagine my surprise and of course excitement when I found out he’s a vibrant dreamer.

Daniel was born & raised in Phoenix, AZ and comes from a family of dreamers. He joined the military in 2014 straight out of high school, then graduated from Charis Bible College worship school in 2023 and their business school in 2024. In June of this year, his biggest dream came true when he married his beautiful wife, and they are now expecting their first child!

020 heaven dreams

CS Lewis said “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

Today, we will hear from many people who have had dreams of heaven. Some are recent and some many years past, but the details of these dreams are often remembered vividly for a lifetime. I have been extraordinarily touched hearing from others on this topic, not only regarding dreams but also visions and near-death experiences. For this episode we are sticking to dreams, but let me tell you it brings me such joy watching people come alive recounting supernatural encounters that touched their lives in meaningful and sometimes life-altering ways.

When you think of heaven, you may envision a scene brimming with stunning beauty, golden, bright light, illuminous colors, gold, pearls or precious stones, images of a bride or wedding, Jesus, angels, loved ones who have passed away, multitudes of people of different races and nations, feelings of overwhelming love, peace, joy, homecoming and being more alive than ever before.

These dreams offer profound encouragement in hard times, reminding us that life on earth is temporary – that we are just passing through. Sometimes these have the effect of drawing people into God’s kingdom for those who don’t yet know Him, like so many testimonies we hear of Muslims being saved through encountering Jesus in a dream. While in heaven, some people experience special revelation, an impartation, healing, calling or some other gift of God.

018 apocalyptic dreams

What comes to mind when you hear the word apocalypse? Possibly images of utter destruction or a dystopian scene where no one is safe and evil and chaos have taken over the earth? I was intrigued to find the Greek definition and usage for the word apokalypsis means: laying bare, making naked, disclosure of truth, manifestation, appearance, revelation or coming.

Apocalyptic dreams are very common, showing us what is really there, or really coming, whether wonderful or terrifying or both. All of these dreams have a common theme: a place of refuge amidst great devastation. Those who chose to take shelter are saved and the rest are not.

While we all have important, God-ordained things to do on this earth, our modern lifestyle offers endless opportunities to squander our lives away. It takes effort to choose our pursuits wisely. We must constantly align ourselves with the truth that we are spiritual beings, created to live from and towards eternity in connection with our Creator. Whether through dreaming or awake, we all have eyes to see into the unseen realm if we will use them.

I’m so excited for this interview with Stephanie Schureman on the podcast today. Stephanie is a homeschool mom of 6, author of 3 books, speaker, pastor, teacher and founder of Dwelling Place Ministries.

I asked her to be on the show today to talk about her two books on dreams: The Dream Book and a guided journal called I Sleep but my Heart is Awake.
