As if it didn’t want to miss the party, my voice came back just in time to record this 50th podcast episode. After several days of sporadic nebulizing and failed vocal rest, here we are - halfway to 100 episodes exploring the night life together. I’m so happy to hail this milestone with special guest Michael French, who graciously agreed to do most of the talking!

Let me tell you about Michael French! He is an attorney, author, ministry leader and global voice in spiritual formation, leadership development and biblical dream interpretation. With more than 3 decades of experience in law, ministry and international outreach, he brings a rare combination of theological depth, practical leadership and apostolic vision to the body of Christ worldwide.

After years of bi-vocational ministry, he founded and served as senior pastor to the Bridge Birmingham, and has since devoted his life to equipping leaders and strengthening ministries. He is the founder and president of Patria ministries international, providing apostolic oversight, leadership development and relational covering to leaders across multiple nations. He and his wife co-founded the Pavillion Village Children’s Home in Karatina, Kenya and he has authored several books.

In light of recent episodes with people in different states and countries, today I’m giving a shout out to local dreamers in our home state of Colorado. It was so fun connecting with a friend of a friend, Analiese, a vibrant dreamer, mom of 3 and local business owner in Colorado Springs. God said through the prophet Joel that He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh; with sons and daughters prophesying, old men dreaming dreams and young men seeing visions. God has made it clear in His Word and throughout human history that He wants to speak to us, Spirit to spirit, day and night.

The list of ways God speaks to people in dreams goes on and on, and getting to talk with so many vibrant dreamers is my most favorite unpaid job I’ve ever had. In the past couple of weeks I’ve dreamed about lemons, laundry, legs and liars all drawing my attention to the underlying nature of things. The night life is kind of like Forest Gump’s box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get!

In light of the latest wave of ministry scandal exposures, it’s the perfect time to talk about one of my favorite types of dreams . I’ve released episodes on diagnostic and warning dreams, which are similar, but when a dream shows me something I couldn’t know about a person or situation, and especially when it is contrary to what seems naturally true, I consider it a discernment dream.

I believe discernment is something we are all being called to level up in right now, and it’s seriously a superpower! God is constantly speaking through His Spirit, and hearing His voice is one of the greatest privileges we have as His children. We are all growing in this, and none of us are batting 1000 so when we do make a mistake, there is no shame, just an opportunity to repent and determine to be more receptive hearers and doers next time.

It's getting harder to separate what is real from what is not these days, but thankfully we aren’t left to figure it out on our own. God is constantly speaking to us through His Word and His Spirit that lives inside of us who belong to Him. His counsel can come through dreams, visions, thoughts, impressions, and so many other ways. We are all called to grow in maturity in this area – not by becoming fearful or cynical, but by deep, abiding relationship with Him.
